What started off as a small 2-man operation at the turn of the millennium has since grown to what we now recognise as one of the world’s leading professional gaming peripherals brand - SteelSeries. Known for their high quality and professional grade gaming products, which range from mouse-mats to headsets, they cover all the necessary hardware that is key to a gamer’s success. We’ve had a look at some SteelSeries products in the past, such as the original 7H headset, including a very unusual accessory not normally associated with gaming - gaming glasses. Today we are very lucky to get hold of the 7H ‘iPhone/iPod/iPad’ edition - a slight variation of the 7H that we reviewed previously, so moving swiftly on, let’s have a look at the specs.

SteelSeries 7H headset has been redesigned in cooperation with Apple® to offer a unique and comfortable headset for, iPad™, iPhone®, as well as iPod Touch®, iPod Nano®, and iPod Shuffle® users. The SteelSeries 7H headset for Apple® features 50mm drivers with a remarkably wide frequency response that delivers rich and detailed audio reproduction. The headset delivers a clean and clear soundscape from mood setting music to critical 3D positional sounds and alerts. The headset offers two interchangeable ear-cushions that provide long-lasting comfort. The first is open, cloth covered foam ear-cushions with hear-through functionality and the other is closed, leather ear-cushions with noise dampening foam that increases passive noise isolation. The 7H headset for iPod®, iPhone® and iPad™ can be dismantled into 4 separate pieces, which allows for compact and easy transportation. The left ear-cup features an “invisible” retractable microphone system that can be discretely hidden when not in use. The detachable durable braided cord includes built-in volume and play / pause / answer remote controls.
