Excellent review. Looks like a very, very competitive SSD which has few of the downsides of on-the-fly compression used by Sandforce drives to gain their quoted performance levels. Will be very interesting to see how it can perform when pitted again the Cruical M4 w/ latest firmware in that regard too. My only slight concern is making significant commentary wrt reliability compared to Sandforce. Until we can get a handle on it via reporting on forums (which would give us a broad relative rather than absolute reliability comparison) it's probably best to say 'should be more reliable', rather than imply it 'will be more reliable'. Excellent offering from Samsung, worthy winner of the Gold Award especially with the bundled software tools. Looking forward to more SSD reviews coming in the future |

I've just uploaded another short article on the event itself we went to. Concerning reliability, Samsung actually release their stuff to OEMs first and then consumers so they based their experience from that feedback. |

Very impressed by the SSD, but it does come down to how much of a hole this will leave in your pocket of course, but for those looking for the top performance from SATA3, it seems very well poised. I can't imagine it being as much as the RevoDrives yet it's not a million miles off their tail (like a lot of new SSDs). As for that nice picture of the smiling chap at the end of the second article, I know who it is but am I supposed to recognise him from something specific? Slightly cryptic comment there! |

He's well-known for something he used to do before moving to PR. |

Will the Samsung 830 256GB be tested again? 4+ months gone by and I think Samsung have released a few firmware updates, I noticed it was mentioned their would be a rehash of reviews on a new testbed platform.... Only reason I went with the Samsung 256GB SSD 830 is the Samsung claim VAT cash back offer that's on, got a good deal at £202 with the 10% voucher offer at Overclockers UK I've read as many reviews as I could of all the SSD's - no review gives me total conclusive evidence that ANY SSD is better than another - I haven't found any that show a distinct pattern of results. But saying that, I read quite a few reviews and this was one of the best, Vortez and a couple of other review sites had simiar results with the Samsung 830. Hopefully recieve mine tomorrow. |

Great choice of SSD, I'd say it's easily the best you can get. Very good sustained performance and reliability that is unmatched (or maybe by Intel but then again they have shifted to Sandforce now). |

The thing that put me off the Intel 520 was degradation with incompressible data, quite a few reviews show it suffers but same with other Sandforce SSD's, shame really as 5 year warranty was tempting. |
