Nice review.

I have to say it looks pretty good. Some nice features with the USB and audio, otherwise quite down to business and no frills. You say it's a pleasure to use in general use, would it be tiresome doing a lot of word processing using the Cherry Black switches in your opinion? I had a play with a few mechanical keyboards at LITS yesterday and was impressed with how good they felt. Seriously considering splashing out on one with the aim of keeping it as long as possible. My G11 is a bit worn out after 3/4 years and some of the keys stick.

Comprehensive review - many thanks. Keyboards are such a personal item and it must be hard to review

Have to agree with Alex, looks good for a run of the mill basic keyboard but really..... it's a bit dull ! Perhaps for those who want to have a keyboard that does not give away that they are a secret PC gaming fanatic !

Gold plating - naff. Couple of microns of gold plating will make no difference at all and a industry myth created by the industry to boost purchase pricing. It's actually one of the softest metals know to man so were the durability aspect comes from I've never been able to fathom! Something to ponder when you next visit your local Computer/Audio/Visual center and the salesman tries to sell you a over-priced cable with "gold connectors"

Pricing wise, I think that it's a strongly contended market and Logitech, Roccat, Saitek and Razer have similiar looking, or better (depending on personal taste) products at far lower pricing at the moment.

I tried going back to a keyboard I have wanted for some time now, the mighty logitech G19. Stuck with it for about half an hour but the keyboard just felt wrong. Give me a mechanical keyboard anyday of the week now.

If we could have a backlit mechanical keyboard then that would be quite something.....which brings me to my next keyboard review .

Totally agree on the gold plating front, however I doubt it's 24carat gold and thus would be mixed with other metals but retains the gold colour making it much more durable. For audio I can see the point where a digital signal is everything however for USB peripherals, like you, I don't see the need.

With regards to better keyboards, depends entirely on your point of view but like most who try out a mechanical keyboard, the feel is so much better than a rubber domed version so much so that those who try out a mechanical keyboard don't go back to the lesser brethren.

Thanks for the reply. I'm 90% set on getting a mechanical keyboard in the next month now, just have to choose which one! Easier said than done really, there are a lot of nice models out there. I don't need audio or USB functionality, but it would be nice to have media keys of some sort. Dedicated keys are better in my view, coming from a G11 it'll be difficult to live without them, but not impossible.

Looking forward to what you're looking at next and seeing what you think, having had the chance to use a few now!

I've got a G19, Qpad MK80 and a TT esports Meka G1. They are all next on my 'to-do' list
