AMD Set to Release 'K' Unlocked A-Series APUs

Current A series APUs are unable to reach much higher than 3.7GHz due to being locked to overclocking on the motherboard base clock which affects the iGPU as well as other componants. Offering versions with an unlocked multiplier should be able to reach higher speeds as the multiplier only affects CPU core speed. While the FM1 platform is considered to be 'mainstream' these K chips will be a nice bonus for dedicated overclockers and performance enthusiasts alike.

The A8-3870K and A6-3670K are said to be in production now with an expected Q4 release.
