Arctic Announces Massive Accelero Twin Turbo 690

News Editor: Craig Farren Date: 11-09-2012 [ Print | 2 comment(s) ]  Discuss in Forums

For those who think the $1000 GTX 690's heatsink isn't enough, Arctic has announced their new Accelero Twin Turbo 690.

A massive card needs massive cooling and Artic Cooling have not disappointed. Known for creating brilliant fans and coolers, Arctic Cooling have now released a cooler for the GTX690.

Their Accelero Twin Turbo 690 has 2 120mm fans, 10 heatpipes and 86 dense aluminum fins. If that doesn't sound impressive enough how about these numbers? It can disperse up to 400W of heat and is reportedly able to reduce temperatures a further 12°C from the 690's already adequate cooling. All this while being quieter than the stock cooler. However, with the good comes the bad. When this is attached to the 690 it will take up 3 slots and the hot air is dispersed inside the case as opposed to being pushed out of the back.

The real question, however is will the $170 USD price tag be something consumers are willing to pay on top of the $1000 for the card? Does the benefit of -12°C outweigh the cost or is the stock coolers performance and noise good enough? Visit the official page here fore more information.

Some might say $1000 for a graphics card is silly. However, if you are spending $1000 on a vid card then what's an extra $170 to keep it cool?
