Following the launch of Nvidia's latest GPU, it was only a matter of time before their partners created compact card design based on the GeForce GTX 960. This is, is no small part, down to the high efficiency and impressively low TDP of the GM206, but also due to the ever more accomplished cooling designs the card manufacturers are developing. This week ASUS are showing off their own variant, the GeForce GTX 960 Mini.

The ASUS GeForce GTX 960 Mini is part of their Mini component series, and as the name suggests is intended for small form factor systems or other circumstances where space is restricted. ASUS have focused on limiting the length, in this case to only 17cm, but have retained a full-height PCB and PCI slot bracket. It's particularly at home in mainstream micro-ATX and mini-ITX chassis, especially those for which fitting full-length graphics cards would be awkward or impossible.

In terms of cooling, the GTX 960 Mini appears to utilise the same compact DirectCU II Mini cooler present on the GTX 760 Mini. It features a CoolTech axial fan, which radiates air outwards 360 degrees, custom vapour chamber and main heatsink with densely stacked radial fins. The design acts like a hybrid blower and top-down cooler, a good compromise for small form factor chassis.

Each GeForce GTX 960 Mini is factory overclocked to 1190 MHz core, 1253 MHz GPU Boost and has an unchanged 7000MHz (GDDR5) memory clock. The amount of VRAM is likely to remain unchanged from the 2GB default. Dual-Link DVI, HDMI and three DisplayPorts are all available for your display needs. Despite the overclock only one 6-pin PCI-Express power connector is required.

Pricing and availability for this part isn't yet known.
