BitFenix Tease Two New Chassis At IT Partners 2012 in France

News Editor: Tim Harmer Date: 31-01-2012 [ Print | 2 comment(s) ]  Discuss in Forums

New mid-tower and mini-ITX chassis pictured. No names, no pack-drill, but a few features of the mITX chassis are hinted at.

BitFenix have uploaded an image proporting to show some of the new cases lining up in 2012. Already well known by now are the Raider and Shinobi XL, the latter of which is due for release in late February; two new cases also made an appearance, but the names have yet to be revealed. Arrayed as they are, it's striking how much BitFenix have moved on from the gamer aesthetic of the Colossus and Survivor.

The right-middle chassis appears to be a mid-tower with hinged door similar to the NZXT H2, Fractal Design R3 and Antec P180. This could be BitFenix's first entrant into the 'low-noise' market which has been exploited with mixed success by other manufacturers, though the only way to tell would be with a peek inside. It looks very stylish covered in the matt black SofTouch finish, hopefully the internals and cooling performance matches.

Last on the right is the mini-ITX chassis, which if anything looks a little like like a squashed Apple Mac desktop. That is, if it was black, covered in SofTouch and the contents weren't likely to suck for gaming. Teasing more information, Bitfenix representative kul1 on the OCUK forums had this to say:

Did you ever want a mini-itx chassis that fits a 240mm radiator on top, long VGA cards up to 33cm and CPU coolers up to a height of 18cm?

If so, I may have something for your very soon!

That's going to be one cramped chassis. We'll hopefully see more of both at Cebit 2012.

BitFenix taking a shot at the low-noise case market? I'm looking forward to that. The two middle cases both look superb.

I remember somewhere that they used different side pannels on different cases(merc alphas, betas, outlaws ect). Hopefully the newer ones get more uniform then it could make for nice swapping of window sides and stuff.
