Coming In April: CM Storm Trigger

👤by Tim Harmer Comments 📅22.03.2012 12:21:11

CM Storm - Cooler Master's gaming brand - revealed the tenkeyless mechanical Quickfire Rapid late last year, and have just announced plans to expand their gaming keyboard range into the full-sized arena. The CM Storm Trigger will include the numberpad absent on the Quickfire Rapid, and a number of other features besides, to provide a more well-rounded gaming experience.

As with the Quickfire Rapid, the Trigger will feature CHERRY MX Blue, Black, Brown or Red switches depending on vendor region. These switch types are quite dissimilar and so you'll probably want to do a little bit of research to make sure you're buying the right one for you; handily CM Storm have included a list of Model Numbers indicating which versions have which keys:

SGK-6000-GKCC1 (Black Switch)
SGK-6000-GKCL1 (Blue Switch)
SGK-6000-GKCM1 (Brown Switch)
SGK-6000-GKCR1(Red Switch)

Six-key rollover is standard for the Trigger, as are 'gold-plated switches', though the latter will probably have much of a day-to-day impact.

As you would expect from a modern gaming keyboard the Trigger has a set of 5 macro keys and on-board memory for profile storage. Polling rate is 1000Hz and driverless, which should go some way towards reducing the latency many gamers claims to experience with USB devices. If backlighting is your thing then you'll be pleased to hear that the Trigger will include backlighting options.

The CM Storm Trigger is due in April. Not pricing information is yet known.
