The industry is currently in the midst of a pre-CeBIT/GDC lull for major new product announcements, but that hasn't stopped popular component manufacturer MSI from beginning a long tease for something brand spanking new.

Hung just out of reach of our grubby mitts is The Aegis from MSI's GAMING arm, but MSI themselves are uncharacteristically coy over design details. That coyness even extends to exactly what the product actually is, although you can make a few educated guesses based on the teaser image and MSI's own product portfolio.

Naturally this isn't a keyboard or laptop, nor is it likely to be just a GFX card based on some rather key factors. Currently all signs point to either an enclosure or perhaps a barebones PC, similar to the Nighthawk X2 we reviewed last week. A slightly more exotic hypothesis is that Aegis will be MSI's version of an external GPU enclosure, or even a standalone VR-capable system.

Whatever Aegis is, the big reveal is still almost two months away. You can stay updated by signing up for e-mail notifications on the landing page, and of course we'll keep you notified of any major developments. Otherwise, keep your eyes peeled on social media for #HarnessAegis.
