Please turn on Google's two-factor Authentication

You may have heard or read about Wired reported Mat Honan and the hack that was used to wipe his MacBook, iPhone and iPad, delete his Google account and hijack his twitter. Could it have been prevented?

Just a heads up to all. Read the linked article and verify that Google's 2 step authentication is activated on your account. If you haven't heard about what happened to Mat Honan and want to find out more than read this article.



Two-factor authentication means "something you know" (like a password) and "something you have", which can be an object like a phone. Here's a simple video about how it works:

I tryed to do that several times but i never received any messages on my phone (not a smartphone)

That's strange. It shouldn't matter if you have a smart phone or not as it is just a text message. Did you have the right Country code etc?
