AMD said they would be adding new titles to the AMD Rewards Never Settle Forever bundle soon and they have certainly delivered in securing the latest AAA hit, Saints Row IV. Set in an alternate version of Steelport where the Third Street Saints are now leaders of the Free World, you combat an Alien Invasion with the only weapons you know: all of them.
Developers Deep Silver Volition worked with AMD as an exclusive hardware partner, allowing them to leverage technologies for improved performance and visuals. This will also have fed back into AMD's testing process and driver optimisations, resulting in both a more stable and higher fidelity gameplay experience for those with AMD hardware. General Manager Dan Cermak said:
By working with AMD and their Gaming Evolved program, we were able to harness essential technologies like the GCN Architecture and AMD Eyefinity which add a new and exciting dimension to the player experience for Saints Row IV
Both AMD and publishers Deep Silver are naturally excited by the results of the partnership, helping to garner an aggregated Metacritic rating of 86 and bringing the title to the PC platform without the problems which plague some cross-platform releases. Menno van der Bil, Commercial Director at Deep Silver is quoted as saying:
Deep Silver is committed to delivering games with an innovative angle that will look and run great for PC gamers. [..] The PC version of Saints Row IV is an important component for the global success that the game already has had and the cooperation with AMD has helped to ensure its technical performance.
Saints Row IV has been added to the Gold Tier of Rewards, joining the likes of Tomb Raider (2013), DmC:Devil May Cry and Hitman Absolution in the soon-to-be eleven titles to choose from. Qualification is simple - you must purchase or have already purchased an AMD Radeon HD 7970 GHz Edition, HD 7970 or HD 7950 graphics card from a qualifying retailer between August 14th and December 31st 2013, after which you will be entitled to your choice of three different Never Settle Forever Gold Reward titles.
The news comes on the heels of recent price reductions for performance level AMD cards in the UK, and adds an additional £40 of value to those who have yet to part with one of their Gold Tier free game redemptions.
The title may be available to redeem as soon as September 11th, but for now AMD have simply said it will be 'soon'. Of course, this epitomises the strength of the Never Settle Forever bundle - you're afforded both choice of title and redemption timing flexibility. In the past the offer would have been a time-limited all-or-nothing bundle, of which you may even already have 90% (or more) of the games!
If Saints Row IV doesn't do it for you, don't fret. More titles are sure to come down the pipeline in the coming months, and you can hold on to one, two or all your free game redemptions until you feel the time is right. Or December 31st, whichever is sooner.
