This afternoon Valve have opened pre-orders for Steam Machine hardware, designed to help you have a console-like experience on your PC in your living-room. The devices include the new Steam Controller with haptic feedback touch control, Steam Link livingroom streaming device, and first customer versions of the 'Steam Machine' small form factor PCs.

Pre-Orders can be placed now for Valve's own hardware directly from the Steam store website and client; PC hardware is available from the manufacturers. Orders are shipping as early as October 16th ahead of general release and availability on November 10th.

The hardware includes:

STEAM CONTROLLER (£39.99 GBP): The Steam Controller is an innovative input device that allows you to play games from all genres, including traditional gamepad-style games as well as games usually reserved for play with a mouse and keyboard. The Controllers are wireless and completely configurable.

STEAM LINK (£39.99 GBP): The Steam Link allows existing Steam gamers to expand the range of their current gaming set up via their home network. Just connect your Steam PC or Steam Machine to your home network, plug into a TV, and stream your games to the Link at 1080p.

STEAM LINK + CONTROLLER BUNDLE: £79.98

STEAM MACHINES:

- Alienware Steam Machine: From $449 (no UK pricing available) - includes NVIDIA GeForce GTX Graphics & Intel Processor
- Syber Steam Machine: From $499 (no UK pricing available)

More Steam Machines are coming soon from the likes of ZOTAC, GIGABYTE et al.

Demand is likely to be high; however as with all pre-orders, especially hardware pre-orders, it's usually best to wait for trusted reviews. Similarly only in rare circumstances are Steam Machines specifically likely to be better value than self-built small form factor systems.
