Steam Summer Sale Rumoured To Start On The 19th

The traditional time of terror for your wallet looks set to begin next week as there are strong rumours Valve is once against preparing the Steam Summer Sale. Eagle-eyed posters on NeoGAF spotted references to the Sale on Portuguese payment site PaySafeCard.com, stating that it was to begin on the 19th June and continue on to the 30th of the month.

Normally this would be easy to dismiss, however in the last day Steam Account Badge pages have been updated with the Mystery Card slot, an event which last happened 9 days before the start of the Winter 2013 sale.

Although recently Steam Sales have been timed to be around mid-July (or 'just about to be turfed out from school season') this year Valve's own The International 4 eSports event looms large over mid-July. Ensuring that the Sale - an essentially movable feast of bargains - doesn't clash (and compete) with another money-spinning event may have been a key concern if these rumours turn out to be accurate.

Whenever the Sale begins the usual rules will almost certainly apply: only buy a game if it's on a flash sale or daily deal. Titles on weekly and franchise sales tend to have shallower discounts, so being canny is a great way to make your pounds stretch further.

Meanwhile, if you're still after a free game Plants vs Zombies is still On The House via Origin. And if you're looking for something to play it on our competitions for an AMD R9 280 from XFX or GIGABYTE Z97 Overclocking Motherboard, BeQuiet Cooling and Kingston Storage are currently open!
