PRESS RELEASE

Milton Keynes, United Kingdom – 27th August 2013 - Synology® today announced the availability of the official version of DiskStation Manager (DSM) 4.3, the latest NAS operating system which runs on DiskStations and RackStations. “With DSM 4.3, the technologies that used to be affordable and accessible only to large enterprises are now within reach of small and medium businesses and individuals,” said Vic Hsu, CEO of Synology Inc. “It also enables a smarter home cloud that hosts all your photos, music, and videos, and pushes them to different devices.”

DSM 4.3 is engineered to:

Amplify storage efficiency and agility:- DSM 4.3 fully supports Windows® Offloaded Data Transfer (ODX) technology to accelerate file copy and move operations. By further leveraging Synology Advanced LUN technology, businesses can achieve 20 times faster file copy and save the original data size up to 99.9%. SSD trim technology maximises I/O performance and extends SSD lifetime. Synology High Availability (SHA) features a new management wizard to simplify cluster management, and supports Link Aggregation and VLANs to achieve much greater reliability and flexibility.

Streamline IT management:- Speed Limit Scheduler provides IT admins with granular control over bandwidth usage of users, groups, or services on a schedule. In addition, DSM 4.3 supports HFS+, NSFv4, Windows DFS links and Symbolic Links to advance file-sharing capability.

Simplify file sync and share functionality:- Cloud Station now supports selective sync , saves historical versions by only storing changed blocks, and increases synchronisation performance up to 30%. Linux users also enjoy the full benefit of Cloud Station, with clients for both Fedora and Ubuntu which are considered the most common Linux desktop distributions. In File Station, users can download files from the NAS onto their desktop by dragging and dropping directly within the browser as well as share a whole folder with non-DSM user via a link. Mail Server improves its security offering by integrating ClamAV® (Antivirus Essential), new anti-spam tools, and the Auto Bcc feature. VPN introduces L2TP over IPSec and unlimited reconnection capability to make Virtual Private Network connections more secure and robust.

Provide user-centric multimedia experience:- The new sleek interface of Photo Station 6 provides a variety of dynamic ways to display photos, including building albums based on criteria such as date and location. With Windows AD, LDAP, and trust domain support, business users can easily manage albums’ privileges. Video Station allows users to create custom libraries and set privileges on them, and supports DVB-S to make more TV channels accessible via satellite signal.

Enhance mobile support:- iOS users now enjoy a more streamlined app design across DS photo+, DS audio, and DS cam. Android™ users will appreciate offline listening and playlist editing on DS audio. In addition, DS cloud lets Android users select a specific folder or SD card to sync data. Windows Phone users will find remote file access effortless with DS file.
