The Witcher 3 has been delayed again

It's always sad news when a highly anticipated game (or in this case, the most highly anticipated game of 2015) is delayed. However, all is not lost as it should mean the game is better polished and more bug free when it is released. This is exactly the reason CD Projekt Red have pushed the release of Witcher 3: Wild Hunt back to May 2015.

The studio has written an open letter explaining their reasons behind the delay.

The sheer size and complexity of The Witcher, key features of the title, have had a decisive impact on production. Now, nearing the end of our work, we see many details that need to be corrected. When we release the most important game in our studio’s history, we must be absolutely sure that we did everything we could to limit any bugs to a level that will allow you to enjoy the game thoroughly.

With this in mind, we took another look at current workloads and what they mean for the team. Even though everyone is working at full speed, we concluded that we need another 12 weeks, so we are shifting the release date of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt to May 19th, 2015.

While this is disappointing it also fills us with hope that this game will not suffer the same blight that other recent next gen games have suffered. Poor optimization, bugs and glitches galore have featured heavily in recent titles and it really is disappointing to all who buy these games expecting to be able to enjoy their experience when it launches.

Despite the delay CDPR have always been about value and put their customers first so we can expect loads of free DLC and, if previous games are anything to go by, an engaging atmosphere, fantastic story and a thoroughly enjoyable experience.
