Western Digital introduces WD Blue and WD Green solid state drives, the first Western Digital branded SSDs. The SSDs aim to be a complement to the existing WD hard drive family for computers and workstations, thus completing a full portfolio of Western Digital storage devices for all kinds of purposes.

The new Western Digital WD Blue and WD Green SSDs promises the top-tier performance in terms of speed for SATA class SSDs along with exceptional MTTF and the WD Functional Integrity (F.I.T.) Lab certification which guarantees performance and quality. Users will benefit the industry leading 1.75 million hours of MTTF versus the typical 1.5 million hours from most competitors. Users can also benefit the free WD SSD Dashboard software which is a free continuous capacity and performance monitoring software.

"There is significant demand among our core WD resellers and consumers for a broad set of flash-based storage options. The expansive reach of the WD channel enables availability of a Western Digital SSD solution. We are very proud to have developed and launched WD Blue and WD Green SSDs, and believe they’ll provide the instant-on, reliability and capacity benefits our customers have been demanding." - Eyal Bek, senior director, Devices Business Unit, Western Digital
