To measure temperatures we run the CPU at its stock clock speeds and hit it with an AIDA64 Stability Test load for 20 minutes.

Overclocking
We’ve now reviewed a few different 3rd Gen. Ryzen CPUs so we could enter the overclocking portion of this review a bit more clued up than with the initial reviews.

The 3600X sits at a base clock of 3.8GHz with boost speeds right up to 4.4GHz, however, the 4.4GHz will rarely happen unless extreme cooling is employed. As we’ve done in previous reviews, we’ve always wanted to find an all-core overclock of somewhere around about the CPUs perfect boost speed but have yet to manage that (The 3400G is an exception but isn’t a true 3rd Gen. Ryzen).

We set about trying to 4200MHz at first and found we could maintain this without a boost to voltage, at all. So through trial and error, bumping up the speeds, we eventually got to 4350MHz with around 0.25V more than standard. We’re very happy with this result, being closest to AMDs claimed maximum boost speed as an all-core boost.

You can find the CPUs overclocked results in each of the graphs on the following pages.
