Conclusion

Following on from the successful launch of NVIDIA’s GTX 1080 Ti, partner cards are now flying in thick and fast and today’s XTREME edition from AORUS is a clear indicator to competitors that they are aiming for the top spot, and nothing else.

One its own the GTX 1080 Ti is a beast to behold, but add to it the spectacular triple 100mm stacked WindForce design with double-base plate engineering and a nudge up in frequency to the GPU and memory and we have an astounding graphics card before us. In fact, the cooling solution employed by AORUS, reduces the temperature by 20-25 degrees over the NVIDIA reference design – demonstrating just how efficient this design is.

For gamers that are keen to indulge in the very latest gaming titles using resolutions upwards of 1440p this card is definitely a suitable candidate for delivering brilliant frame rates. The factory overclock applied, allows the XTREME to creep even further ahead of the competition.

The overall look, appearance and construction of the GTX 1080 Ti XTREME is top-class, it is pleasing to the eye and we found it to be very well made (though it is large and on the heavy side). For enthusiasts that insist on RGB lighting and fully colour coordination, AORUS has equipped the card with the option to modify the colours using the included software.

One of the key attractions to this card which will undoubtedly draw in attention are the multitude of HDMI ports that AORUS has implemented. Adopting “VR Link”, XTREME hosts up to three HDMI 2.0 ports – paving the way for excellent VR support. If you do happen to need such a port for your headset then you won’t need to go without – no sacrifice has to be made. Typically, on the GTX 1080 Ti board layout, only one HDMI port is included, so to have three at your disposal is extremely handy – especially if you’re using multi-displays which require such a standard.

Priced at £799 GBP / $699 USD, is indeed a pricey graphics card to invest in. At the time of producing our YouTube video for this graphics card prices were fluctuating (as they sometimes do when such a product is on preorder). This price may well change again, but what we can say is that XTREME does arrive with a 4-year warranty and as it currently stands, this is likely to be one of the coolest, fastest and quietest GTX 1080 Ti cards you can buy.

XTREME by name and by nature, this new AORUS graphics card is astounding. If you’re in the market for a new GTX 1080 Ti then you can’t go far wrong with this one!
