The latest entrant in ASUS’s premium graphics card lineup is the ASUS GeForce RTX 5080 Noctua Edition, a striking blend of high-end GPU performance and class-leading acoustics. Built around NVIDIA’s powerful 16 GB GeForce RTX 5080 GPU—with a custom PCB and robust vapor chamber heatsink—the card pushes traditional air cooling to new heights with three of Noctua’s flagship NF-A12x25 G2 120 mm fans. This triple-fan setup isn’t just about size: the fans are deliberately speed-offset to minimise harmonic interactions and deliver a truly quiet performance profile that aims to outclass even ASUS’s own TUF and ROG Astral variants.
What makes this card particularly noteworthy is the continuing partnership between ASUS and Noctua. The two companies have previously teamed up on special edition cards such as the RTX 3080 and RTX 4080 Noctua Editions, combining ASUS’s GPU engineering with Noctua’s renowned expertise in low-noise cooling. In the RTX 5080 model, that collaboration culminates in a custom-designed heatsink with an extensive vapour chamber and eleven heatpipes, tailored to extract heat efficiently while keeping ambient noise to a minimum—an appealing proposition for enthusiasts who prize acoustic comfort as much as raw frame rates.
Beyond its cooling pedigree, the NVIDIA Blackwell-based GPU at the heart of the card features a healthy complement of CUDA cores and modern features like PCIe 5.0 support, ample memory bandwidth, and the latest ray-tracing and AI acceleration capabilities. The sheer physical scale of the design—measuring well into four slots of chassis space—signals ASUS and Noctua’s commitment to thermally efficient performance, albeit with the trade-off of a larger footprint. We’re looking forward to seeing how this balance of performance, thermals, and whisper-quiet operation translates into real-world numbers when we put it through its paces in our upcoming testing.
Noctua on the RTX 5080 Noctua Edition:
True to the legacy of the ASUS x Noctua series graphics cards, the ASUS GeForce RTX 5080 Noctua Edition leverages the power of Noctua’s latest flagship fans and a fully custom-engineered heatsink to achieve state-of-the-art quiet cooling efficiency.
