It's possible to chart the progression of Intel's Core CPUs simple by looking at the underside of the package. As time progresses the component density has been ramped up, reflecting the increases complexity of the CPU architecture and new features which are added over time.

In this instance not a whole lot has changed in the transition from 6th to 7th generation. Component layout is similar and the pad layout is identical thanks to the re-use of and LGA1151 socket specification.

Both samples pictured are from retail sources, and as OEM chips aren't shipped with retail packaging. We can state however that Kaby Lake enthusiast processors' retail packaging shares many of the hallmarks of the Skylake revamp.
