The Firefly is enabled through the Razer Synapse software, which requires to be downloaded from the Razer website. It will then download the correct software to run with the connected Razer devices. This setup can be a little longwinded, but once done the software is intuitive and easy to use. The settings for the mouse mat are fairly simple, with various lighting options including breathing, spectrum, static and wave options. Reative is not yet highlighted as it is something that is 'in the works' but will be an interesting addition. You can also turn the lighting off, or adjust the brightness as you please.
