SanDisk, now part of the Western Digital group, have been producing storage devices for over 30 years and have become a household name in the memory card and flash drive market.
Today we’re looking at something a little out of the ordinary, a flash drive that can be used with your PC, via the usual Type-A USB connection, or with your iPhone through the Lightning port.
Available in 32GB through to 256GB, the iXpand can give you valuable breathing room on your iPhone if you find that your device is filling up but you don’t want to lose your photos, saving yourself the monthly charges associated with additional iCloud storage capacity.
With USB 3.0, data transfers are quick and easy and with SanDisk’s iXpand App, available from the App Store, automatic transfers can be configured to further optimise the experience.
Further to that, thanks to a flexible design, SanDisk claim the drive can be used with your iPhone without removing it from its case.
For £29.99 / $22.99, you can grab yourself an additional 32GB of iPhone storage, vastly cheaper than purchasing the higher capacity phones from Apple, but is it any good? Let’s find out.
SanDisk on the iXpand:
Designed to be the perfect companion for your iPhone, the iXpand Flash Drive offers an easy way to free up space on your iPhone, automatically backs up your camera roll, and even lets you watch popular-format videos straight from the drive4. The drive has both a flexible Lightning connector that works with most cases and a USB 3.0 connector to plug into your Mac computer or PC so you can easily move your stuff where you want it. The iXpand Flash Drive also includes encryption software that lets you password-protect files, so you can share your content while keeping sensitive files secure across your devices5. Take all the photos and videos you want—the iXpand Flash Drive delivers a fast and simple way to free up space on your iPhone so that you’re always ready to capture more memories.
