Packaging and Contents: StarTech.com USB 3.0 Card Adapter

The packaging of the StarTech.com USB 3.0 card adapter is very similar to the packaging of the previously discussed StarTech.com 2.5in hard drive enclosure. Orange, white, black and brown are the main colours used on the packaging. The front gives a good idea of what product is. The packaging also reminds customers that StarTech.com’s customer service is available 24 hours a day online, and the warranty on this product is for life.

The front of the packaging

The back of the packaging does not give any information on the product. The product itself is fairly simple and most of the information was already given in the front of the box. Specifications and package contents could have been added at the back of the packaging, however.

Again, the simple packaging chosen by StarTech.com is a box that folds over the front. It’s a simple idea, and it wastes very little resources. It is also easy to open, too, unlike those infamous clamshell plastic packaging that require knives and that pose a serious health risk.

The 2 port PCI express SuperSpeed USB 3.0 controller adapter card is sealed by a sticker inside an anti-static bag.

With everything taken out from the box, we find a driver CD, a low-profile bracket, a manual and the StarTech.com PCIe 2-port USB 3.0 card adapter. The fact that StarTech.com provided a low-profile bracket surprised me because the packaging did not mention that it would be provided. StarTech.com’s web page does say that a low-profile bracket will be included with this adapter card, however.
