Posted by: Connell Parr on: 2010-08-31 18:06:44 0 comments

FREMONT, California — August 31, 2010 — Corsair®, a worldwide designer and supplier of high-performance components to the PC gaming hardware market, today announced the launch of their inaugural audio product, the Gaming Audio Series™ HS1 USB gaming headset. This noise-isolating headset offers long-term playing comfort and immersive multi-channel audio, with massive 50mm drivers and a carefully tuned acoustical design optimized not only for gaming, but for movies and music as well.

The HS1 is loaded with features designed to optimize your gaming experience. The 50mm drivers provide more accurate sound reproduction and far lower distortion than is produced by smaller, more typical drivers. The circumaural, closed-back design helps reject ambient noise and keeps you in the game, even in high-distraction environments like LAN parties. Replaceable memory foam ear pads provide a reliable, comfortable fit that conforms to the shape of your head without binding or pinching. The uni-directional noise-cancelling microphone on an adjustable boom enables clear, low-noise voice chat. The end result is a headset that simply provides a superior gaming experience.

“We set out to develop a headset with the performance that gamers demand, while also providing the pristine audio reproduction required for multi-channel movies and high bit rate music,” stated Jim Carlton, Vice President of Marketing at Corsair. “The Audio HS1 easily meets both these challenges.”

Corsair’s AX1200 PSU Powers the Maximum PC Dream Machine 2010

Posted by: Connell Parr on: 2010-08-10 18:25:44 0 comments

Fremont, California — August 10, 2010 — Corsair®, a worldwide designer and supplier of high-performance components to the PC gaming hardware market, today announced that the Corsair Professional Series™ Gold AX1200 PSU has been selected by Maximum PC magazine to power their Dream Machine 2010. Maximum PC also selected Corsair Dominator® memory for this “best of the best” enthusiast computer system.

Each year, Maximum PC magazine builds the “Dream Machine”, a computer that they feel represents the absolute state of the art in high performance desktop computing. It is a design that typically approaches the frontier of what can be achieved using the very best components available. This year’s Dream Machine features dual Intel® Xeon® 5680 CPUs, three NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 480 video cards, and liquid cooling throughout. The performance of this computer is impressive, hitting an incredible 3DMark® Vantage CPU score of 91,806.

To meet the demands of this power-hungry computer, Maximum PC selected both the Corsair Professional Series Gold AX1200 PSU and 24GB of Dominator 1600MHz DDR3 memory for this system. Corsair Launches Hydro Series H70 CPU Cooler

Posted by: Connell Parr on: 2010-08-04 13:27:22 0 comments

Fremont, California — August 4, 2010 — Corsair®, a worldwide designer and supplier of high-performance components to the PC gaming hardware market, today announced the Corsair Hydro Series™ H70 ultra-performance CPU cooler. This CPU cooler is designed to provide an extremely efficient cooling solution for CPUs from Intel® and AMD.

The Hydro Series H70 CPU cooler is an evolution of the award-winning Hydro Series H50, with several significant upgrades that enable it to deliver even greater cooling performance. These upgrades include a double-thickness (50mm) radiator with higher heat-exchanging capacity and a pump/cold plate unit with increased efficiency. The H70 also features two 120mm speed-switchable cooling fans in a push-pull configuration to provide increased airflow at low noise levels.

“Thanks to the H70, you no longer need a fin array the size of a small shoebox to cool aggressively overclocked CPUs,” stated John Beekley, VP of Technical Marketing at Corsair. “The H70 stands toe-to-toe with any CPU cooler on the market, and does it with less noise, easier installation, and support of nearly every ATX-compatible case.”

Like the wildly popular H50, the Hydro Series H70 provides the benefits of water cooling in a sealed and pre-filled unit, with no maintenance required. The low profile cold plate is extremely space efficient, and is very low in mass compared to heat pipe based solutions, putting less stress on the system’s motherboard. The H70 includes mounting hardware for most common AMD and Intel CPUs, and, unlike some competitive CPU coolers, includes all necessary fans for high performance operation.

The Corsair Hydro Series H70 CPU Cooler is available immediately from Corsair’s worldwide network of authorized distributors and resellers. It is supplied with a two year warranty, and is backed by Corsair’s legendary customer service and technical support.

Corsair Announces Additions to its Force Series Family of Solid-State Drives

Posted by: Connell Parr on: 2010-07-21 19:33:40 0 comments

FREMONT, California — May 27, 2010 — Corsair®, a worldwide designer and supplier of high-performance components to the PC gaming hardware market, today announced three new capacities in its highly-acclaimed Force Series™ solid-state-drives, adding 40GB, 80GB, and 160GB models to the current lineup of 60GB, 120GB and 240GB SSDs.

Corsair Force Series solid-state drives are based on the SandForce® SF-1200 SSD Processor, and includes their DuraWrite™ technology for incredible read and write speeds. Unlike most other current generation solid-state drives, the unique architecture of the SF-1200 SSD Processor allows lower capacity drives to perform with nearly the same performance as larger capacity SSDs. All three Force Series models support the TRIM command, so write performance is maintained over time.

"In our testing in the Corsair Lab, we found that the new Force Series 40GB SSD outperform competitive SSDs from Intel and Kingston by a wide margin," said John Beekley, Vice President of Technical Marketing at Corsair. "With SandForce's unique DuraWrite architecture, there is almost no performance penalty when reducing the capacity of the drive."

The three new additions to the Force Series SSDs from Corsair have a Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price in the United States of $129.99 for the 40GB, $229.99 for the 80GB, and $449.99 for the 160GB version. The new models are expected to begin shipping worldwide in August.

"With competitive pricing and amazing performance, these new drives are a force to be reckoned with," said Jim Carlton, Vice President of Marketing at Corsair. "All of the new models deliver an excellent price/performance ratio, but the aggressively priced 40GB F40 is incredibly attractive and, quite simply, the ideal boot drive for any Windows 7 desktop PC."

All Corsair SSDs are backed by a three-year warranty and come with Corsair's legendary service and support by phone, email, or via corsair.com.

Corsair Launches Single Rank Ultra-High-Speed DDR3 DIMMs

Posted by: Connell Parr on: 2010-07-01 18:53:54 0 comments

FREMONT, California — July 1, 2010 — Corsair®, a worldwide designer and supplier of high-performance components to the PC gaming hardware market, today announced the launch of Dominator® GT GTX6 DDR3 memory, an ultra-high-speed PC3-21000 single-rank 1GB DDR3 DIMM. These modules are among the fastest available in the world today, and are designed for CPU and memory benchmarking as well as for world record attempts.

The GTX6 is tested on the Gigabyte™ P55A-UD5 motherboard with BIOS Revision F10 at a clock speed of 2625MHz. Specially selected Intel® Core™ i7-860 and Core i7-870 CPUs are used to achieve these memory frequencies. While 2625MHz is the test specification for a single module, we have found in the lab that speeds as high as 2600MHz can typically be achieved when testing as a pair. For ultimate performance, using a CPU cooled using liquid nitrogen, we were able to hit 2976MHz; see our blog for images and screen shots.

“What can I say, except these modules are fast. Really fast,” stated John Beekley, Vice President of Technical Marketing at Corsair. “While not really designed for day to day use, these modules make superb weapons for your overclocking arsenal.”

Dominator GT GTX6 memory is currently available on Corsair’s web store, at shop.corsair.com. Due to the intensive screening involved, the availability of GTX6 memory is very limited. GTX6 modules are supplied with a limited lifetime warranty and are backed up by Corsair’s legendary customer service and technical support.

Corsair Flash Padlock 2 Security Announcement

Posted by: Connell Parr on: 2010-06-28 17:18:55 0 comments

FREMONT, California — June 28, 2010 — Corsair®, a worldwide designer and supplier of high-performance components to the PC gaming hardware market, today announced the discovery of a security issue affecting the Flash Padlock® 2 USB Flash Drive that may expose your data. The Padlock drive employs a keypad to allow users to protect their data with a programmable personal identification number, or PIN. The security issue is correctable by the user, and once the corrective action is taken by the user, the drive once again meets its security specification.

Instructions for correcting the security issue are as follows, and can also be found at corsair.com/padlockupdate. Please note that this procedure must be followed in its entirety to ensure the security of the drive. Also note that while the procedure is NOT destructive, we recommend that you back up your data prior to proceeding.

1. Drive must be in a LOCKED state. If the drive is plugged into a system, remove it.
2. Press and hold the KEY button and the 0/1 button down, simultaneously, for five or more seconds.
3. Release the KEY and 0/1 buttons. Note that at this stage your password MAY have been erased, but data will still exist on the drive.
4. Wait until any LEDs are no longer illuminated or blinking
5. Press and hold the KEY button for three seconds. Both red and green LEDs will illuminate
6. Enter a new PIN using the PIN keys. A user PIN may be 4 to 10 digits long; for security, Corsair recommends 6 digits or more.
7. Press and release the KEY button. Both red and green LEDs will blink in unison.
8. Re-enter your PIN to confirm.
9. Press and release the Key button. Green LED will flash, indicating your PIN has been accepted.
10. Your drive is now secure.
