Sunbeam Core-Contact Freezer 92mm Heatsink Review @ Frostytech.com

Posted by: Ryan Morris on: 2009-03-28 20:10:15 0 comments

Sunbeam Core-Contact Freezer 92mm Heatsink Review

"Sunbeamtech's Core-Contact Freezer 92mm heatsink stands 122mm tall, measures 97mm across and accommodates one or two 92mm fans. The heatsink ships with a single fan mounted on rubber vibration absorbing posts that spins at 1,200~2,200 RPM, extra rubber mounting posts are supplied. The all aluminum construction, apart from four 6mm copper heatpipes exposed at the base, keeps weight down to a feathery 272 grams. In all other respects the Sunbeam Core-Contact Freezer 92mm Edition is essentially a shrunken down version of its namesake. It will no doubt satisfy users looking for a sub-125mm tall cooler for compact PC cases."

Gigabyte GV-N96TSL-1GI Geforce 9600GT Rev.B Videocard Review

Gigabyte GV-N96TSL-1GI Geforce 9600GT Rev.B Videocard Review

"This isn't an old 9600GT GPU making a comeback with 1GB of GDDR3 memory, this new Geforce 9600GT graphics card from Gigabyte uses the 'revision B' nVidia 'G94' GPU; it's built with a smaller manufacturing process, has a physically smaller silicon die, uses less power and consequently runs cooler. Reduced power consumption made it possible for Gigabyte engineers to make the GV-N96TSL-1GI Geforce 9600GT videocard completely fanless. The great thing about passively cooled videocards are that they're excellent for media center's, particularly HTPC's that sit next to the television."

Titan Fenrir TTC-NK85TZ Heatsink Review

"In this review Frostytech is testing the new Titan TTC-NK85TZ Fenrir heatsink, a good CPU cooler from a manufacturer which has had a spotty past. If you can find the Titan TTC-NK85TZ Fenrir you'll find it equivalent to models like the Sunbeam Core-contact freezer. Like many tower heatsinks, the TTC-NK85TZ Fenrir heatsink has four exposed 8mm diameter direct contact heatpipes at the base. Weighing it at roughly 550grams, the TTC-NK85TZ Fenrir is compatible with both Intel socket 775, 1366 and the entire family of AMD socket 939 to AM2+ processors."

Intel 32nm Westmere Processor Roadmap - Integrated Graphics CPU @ PCSTATS.com

Posted by: Ryan Morris on: 2009-02-17 09:31:21 0 comments

"Westmere comes in on the "tick" part of Intel's development cycle, meaning it's a shrink of fabrication process for an existing architecture. In this case Westmere will be taking Intel's Nehalem architecture and shrinking it from a 45nm to a 32nm process. This will also allow Intel to push clock speeds further, in much the same way taking the Core 2 Duo architecture, but that's not all that makes Westmere so significant..."

Test Freaks have just posted a new review on the EFI X USB device. Below is a snippet and link to the review. Take a look!

Review Snipit:
"Getting a stock x86 machine to be recognized as running EFI is the Holy Grail of running OS X on a standard PC. If this could be accomplished, then a purchased authentic copy of OS X can be installed on a PC without any need for hacks or patches. Until recently, the only way to get the Mac experience on a standard PC was to hunt down patches to use with a purchased OS X install disc or a patched OS X version. Finding these usually meant going to torrent sites or other less savory parts of the net.
