DeepCool Killer Whale Heatsink Review

Posted by: Ryan Morris on: 2009-09-03 19:18:27 0 comments

"DeepCool's Killer Whale heatsink is a top-down cooler built around two critical things. It has a hefty solid copper heat spreader (base) onto which six 6mm diameter heatpipes have been soldered, and a large and potentially very quiet 48mm thick 120mm PWM fan that spins at 1000-1800RPM. The fan moves approximately 78CFM, while generating at most 53.5 dBA and at least a whisper quiet 34.8 dBA. The Killer Whale stands 140mm tall and weighs a hefty 900 grams, but if you were to replace the fan with a more compact 120mm model that height could be as little as 92mm + fan thickness."

Thermaltake Element T Mid-Tower PC Case Review

Posted by: Ryan Morris on: 2009-08-27 12:19:34 0 comments

"Up on the review block today I’ve got the Thermaltake Element T Mid-Tower Chassis or PC case. This case is sold as something for gamers, or pros, and it has a simplistic yet elegant design to it. There’s plenty of room inside for any system, and room enough for the largest video cards and many hard drives. The case is very subtle in it’s look, and style, being basic black with red accents, there’s a top mounted 200mm cooling fan included and the PSU is mounted on the bottom of the case to help keep the inside of the case cool. One great feature of this case is that the motherboard tray is cut-out where the CPU cooler would be located, so you won’t have to remove the motherboard tray to change coolers like some coolers require. Read on to check it out… "

In Win X-Fighter AL-13 Series Gaming Case Review

In Win X-Fighter AL-13 Series Gaming Case Review @ Tech-Reviews.co.uk

Today at Tech-Reviews we are reviewing a new case from In Win, a relatively well known company who specialise in computer cases and power supplies. The X-Fighter has been produced with a certain theme in mind. And that theme is Star Wars. Now, being a fan of the films, this case immediately grabbed my attention with its futuristic design. But, it’s not all about looks, so let’s see if the interior lives up to the same standards as the exterior.

Sapphire HD 4650 AGP Graphics Card Review

Posted by: Ryan Morris on: 2009-08-27 11:38:49 0 comments

"It must be at least four years since I have built a system around an AGP (Accelerated Graphics Port for those who have forgotten) graphics card. So when I found out that there was a previously released graphics card being rereleased with an AGP interface and that I was getting it to review, the fond memories of my current doorstop for the closet door came flooding back into my mind. That AMD socket A, Athlon 2800+ beast (now old and weary) was going to be able to serve once more as one of my systems, if not for a short return to the league out of retirement like many famous athletes. The car I speak of for this blast from the past review is an ATI Radeon from Sapphire.
The Sapphire ATI HD4650 AGP features the same 4600 series power but with an AGP interface. The Sapphire ATI HD4650 AGP serves to upgrade aging systems to meet some of the current graphics demands of current games and video. The release of this inexpensive graphics card in an AGP format is certain to stir some interest among those with older systems that just don’t have the money for more current technology but would like to try their hand at some of the more current games, even if at lower settings and resolutions."

Scythe Big Shuriken SCBSK-1000 Heatsink Review

Posted by: Ryan Morris on: 2009-08-27 11:34:20 0 comments

"The Scythe Big Shuriken is actually a really small heatsink, well not so much tiny as low profile. From the CPU to the top of the fan, the Big Shuriken measures a scant 57mm tall. That's not a whole lot of space to cram in a heatsink, but somehow Scythe have packed in four 6mm diameter heatpipes, 60 or 70 razor thin aluminum fins and a 120mm fan."

Benchmark Reviews is here to test this keyboard and its many features to discover whether it lives up to the Razer name, or if it is just another regular old keyboard with some fancy logos and shiny buttons on it.

Thermaltake ToughPower XT 750W Power Supply Review

Posted by: Ryan Morris on: 2009-08-24 12:38:13 0 comments

"There are two types of users: those making as small a footprint as possible in the environmental conditions by using computers like the Eeetop or netbooks and then there are the enthusiasts. While I wouldn’t say the equipment itself is any less harmful for the environment but we are definitely sucking more power than the average user so what can we do to appease our consciences? Simply get a more efficient power supply. Thermaltake has been around for a long time and they have a name for being a quality product manufacturer and the latest line of ToughPower PSUs are no exception. Not only are they giving you quality parts like Japanese Capacitors but they also boast a bronze Efficiency requirement which means cleaner power and more efficient use of said power. Let’s get a look at the Thermaltake ToughPower XT 750W Power Supply and see how it stacks up:"

Gigabyte GTX 285 2GB OC Graphics Card Review

Review of the Gigabyte GTX 285 2GB OC Graphics Card2000 at TestSeek.com

"Without a doubt, the Gigabyte GV-N285OC-2GI is the most powerful graphics card we’ve tested. The results speak for themselves. The card is well made, although we’d still like to see customized cooling. But we felt that the implementation of Ultra Durable VGA made up for not having something better than a reference cooling system..."

Cooler Master Hyper N620 CPU Cooler Review

Posted by: Ryan Morris on: 2009-08-24 12:18:15 0 comments

"When looking for a CPU cooler, you will need to take all aspects into consideration before making a choice. Will you be keeping the computer case on the floor? Is the floor carpeted? How much airflow do you have coming into the case and how much is being put out? Will you be pulling air through your CPU cooler from front to back or bottom to top or straight down (low profile or flat heatsink)? We all know that heat rises, so many of us choose to keep our computers on the floor. This is good and bad, with the enclosure being on the floor a system is prone to pick up more dust, dust increases heat when it gets on or around your cooler fan and heatsink fins causing the cooler to become less efficient. A carpeted floor, besides dust production, retains heat and doesn’t allow cool air to enter from the bottom of your enclosure. Believe it or not the best place to keep your system is approximately 6 to8 inches off the ground as this will allow proper airflow around your enclosure and minimal dust intake. Next is how will you pull the air? This is a preference or it may be determined on how much room you have in your enclosure.
The Coolermaster Hyper N620 is an aftermarket CPU cooler that offers a push-pull cooling solution. The Cooler Master Hyper N620 is compatible with all the latest CPU sockets including the Intel Core I7. For this review, I will be testing the Coolermaster Hyper N620 with the fans pulling from front to rear. The Hyper N 620 will be benchmarked against some other popular aftermarket CPU coolers to judge how well it performs on the Intel Core I7 and AMD Phenom II. The other CPU coolers range from bottom to top air flow, push-pull, and flat (low profile)."

NZXT Sentry 2 LCD Touchscreen Fan Controller

Posted by: Ryan Morris on: 2009-08-24 12:13:58 0 comments

Benchmark Reviews has the pleasure of testing NZXT's newest fan control: the Sentry 2 Touchscreen Fan Controller. A step up from the Sentry 1 and a worthy stable mate for the Sentry LX. The Sentry 2 is a different approach to the same problem. A more elegant solution to a problem that has plagued computer enthusiasts since their earliest days; fan noise. With it's touchscreen controls it's a definite step in the right direction above and beyond it's predecessor the Sentry 1, the Sentry 2 is simplicity itself.

Taking up only half the space of the Sentry LX you might think the NZXT Sentry 2 has only half the features or capabilities but you'd be wrong. Gone are the buttons bells and whistles but what's left is the best of the LX with a touchscreen to make those core features even better and easier to use with some added benefits as well.

Noctua provides free upgrade for LGA1156

Vienna, August 18th 2009 - Noctua today announced the impending availability of its new NM-I3 SecuFirm2™ mounting kit that adds support for Intel's upcoming LGA1156 based Core i5 and Core i7 "Lynnfield" CPUs. Compatible with all Noctua CPU coolers since 2005, the new SecuFirm2™ kit will be supplied to Noctua users free of charge after uploading a proof of purchase on Noctua's website.

"Back in 2006 when AMD introduced the AM2 socket, we started providing free mounting kits because we think that product and service quality should always go hand in hand", explains Mag. Roland Mossig, Noctua CEO. "We've continued this tradition when Intel presented LGA1366 and we'll stick to our policy for LGA1156 as well. We always like to think of our coolers as safe long-term investments, and even if you bought one of our first models four years ago, you'll still be able to upgrade it to the latest socket technology free of charge."

Xclio Godspeed One Advanced PC Case Reviewed @ DragonSteelMods

"It's been a while since I've taken a look at any PC cases here I think... but I've got three of them coming up for review now. SilenX- GPU Heatsink (IXG-80HA2) and 3 Fan Kit Review @ OverclockersHQ

"The GPU makers today are pumping out some incredible card. The new GPU’s come with a price and that price is ambient temperature some of these new cards are pushing the 80 degree mark and that not only frightens those worried about their new graphics card but also affects the overall temperature of the rest of your case as well. There are a lot of choices when it comes to properly cooling your GPU’s simple additions of module heatsinks help a little but for a major enthusiast nothing can fall short of performance top notch cooling. Water cooling is definitely a great option but some people just don’t like the idea of water near their pricey systems so some of us prefer the air cooled option. SilenX has provided us with a fantastic step forward in GPU cooling and design with its latest Cooling product the IXG-80HA2 GPU Heatsink. Let’s get a closer look and see how well it stands up."

Antec True Power 750 Power Supply Review @ Hi Tech Legion

Antec True Power 750 Power Supply Review @ Hi Tech Legion

"PSUs come in all different capacities making each of them matched ideally to different systems. A lower wattage consumer PSU, such as a 450, is good for mild builds, such as a basic home PC or even an HTPC, that don’t require as much electricity to function. Higher end gaming and enthusiast builds require much more to function properly and need a power supply that can supply 700 or more watts and be SLI or CrossFireX ready, to handle two or more graphics cards.
The Antec True Power 750 answers the needs of many higher end systems. The Antec True Power 750 is 80 bronze certified and SLI ready, providing full 750 watts of power. The higher demands of a gaming system or workstation utilizing high power graphics and, in many cases, multiple graphics cards, should easily be handled by a 750 watt with these kinds of features."
