AMD are aiming for a new processor architecture every year maintaining compatability and longevity. In the run up to the expected Piledriver cores that will replace current Zambezi (Vishera, Komodo... Take your pick) it is likely we will see new chipsets such as the 10 Series seen in this slide.
Come 2012 the 1090FX will provide the same dual x16 PCI-E 2.0 speeds that has been available for the past three generations of AMD motherboards providing dual x16 CrossfireX or quad x8 speeds. The new 1050SB will feature native SS USB 3.0 and 8 SATA 3.0 6Gbp/s connections.
If the slide is to be believed in product placement, expected to be positioned above Z77 to come from Intel, is the exclusion of PCI-E 3.0 a wise choice? Or will this be another minor upgrade to the FX line of motherboards?
