You might have thought that AMD wouldn't be updating their WHQL drivers before the new year, but think again! Today the Red Team have updated Radeon Software Crimson Edition to version 15.12, most importantly incorporating the fan configuration hotfix from the 15.11.1 beta.

Chief beneficiaries of the new driver and utility will be anyone who encountered the fan speed bug, as well as players of Star Wars: Battlefront, Fallout 4 and Just Cause 3. In the longer term some fixes also serve to make notifications of new driver revisions more clear and reliable, helping everyone stay up to date.

This update is intended for Windows 7 (Service Pack 1), 8/8.1 and Windows 10, including both 32-bit and 64-bit versions of the OS. Cards based on architectures older than first-generation GCN (i.e. pre-HD 7700-series) aren't supported in this version of Crimson.

A quick comparison with the release notes for 15.11.1 beta shows that the list of Known Issues has ballooned. On the one hand this could be quite worrying, but on the other may indicate that AMD's error reporting tools are bearing fruit, resulting in a more regular update schedule.
