AMD Take The Wraps Off Never Settle: Forever

You can't fault AMD in their approach to bundling additional value with their products. As well received as their Never Settle campaign has been it's starting to show its age despite a regular refreshing of the games line-up for new purchases. That of course should be no surprise, but it must be disheartening to buy a new GFX card trumpeting a whole raft of free triple-A titles and then coming to the slow realisation that you already have the vast majority of the titles on offer. Much of the thrust of the feedback they have garnered concerned this uncomfortable fact.

A change had to come, and it appears that AMD have approached it with a view to the long game. This week they've announced Never Settle Forever.

Gone are the fixed games bundles of Never Settle and Never Settle: Reloaded. Where previously you might receive a bevy of titles, each dependant on the class of AMD GPU purchased, you're now offered that holiest of grails: choice.

Each AMD performance GPU is now a member of a particular Level: Bronze for HD7770's & HD7790's; Silver for HD7800-series cards; Gold for HD7950 & 7970 cards. Each Level has its own pool of games to choose from, with the number of free games also being dependant on the Level of the GPU purchased. Critically this also means that new titles can be added to each level as they appear, without the need to reboot the entire offer every 3-6 months.

However, that's not the most interesting part. For the first time the offer will explicitly allow you to sit on your allocation of free games until one you want is added to the pool. Given how frequently games have been added to the Never Settle bundle in the past, and the quality of these games, that's a real fillip to consumers.

The one proviso is that the vouchers need to be redeemed for games before the 31st December 2013, but that's a long time to consider your purchase. The process you have to go through is summarised here

New titles added to the Never Settle offer are the rebooted Devil May Cry and Sniper Elite, joining the likes of Tomb Raider 2013 and Far Cry 3. BioShock Infinite has been removed, perhaps in preparation for re-inclusion once the Burial At Sea DLC is released. Battlefield 4 is the one major title strongly suspected as an autumn addition to Never Settle given how closely DICE and AMD have been working in pre-release preparations.
