AMD's Bulldozer to appear at CeBIT 2011

With all the recent problems Intel has run into with the Cougar Point chipset, it's not difficult to imagine those at AMD rubbing their hands with glee for a moment or two. In just one month, a selection of partners, and possibly even the public, will get to see AMD's new Bulldozer platform, which includes one of the biggest changes of architecture in their CPU manufacturing history.

The new technology includes a selection of CPUs (and indeed APUs) and new chipset platforms. There have been few details made available at this stage, but the CPU line up has been known to some extent since November '10, as reported by Vortez here. This January, amidst CES and the Sandy Bridge excitement, possible performance figures surfaced, citing Bulldozer to deliver performance 50% faster than Intel's Core i7 and AMD's existing Phenom II series. That would possibly put it on a par with Intel's Gulftown processors, which are about the fastest out there right now. If these rumours are true, we have much to look forward to.

In a quiet corner at CES, we also saw MSI display the first 990FX chipset motherboard, indicating that partners must now be almost ready with their new lineups for AMDs next gen processors.

Today, as above, FudZilla reports that we will find out much more at CeBIT 2011. Vortez will have a presence there and will be reporting on all the exciting developments as they happen.

We're all pretty excited about this release at Vortez, what do you think though? Will it be much ado about nothing, or could it see AMD launch ahead of Intel for the first time in many years? Let us know in the forums!
