AMDs next-gen graphics, codename 'Volcanic islands' are expected to be available late 2013 and it would appear there are some big changes to come. Making a move from the VLIW5, VLIW4 and GCN this is a new architecture that may include 4 ACE (Asynchronous Compute Engines) and 8 SPMs(Serial Processing Modules)that may play a role in AMDs Heterogeneous Systems Architecture (HSA) plan.

Is this the Architecture for the 'Hawaii' GPU?

Customers may not be able to buy the 8000 series graphics cards this side of Christmas which is likely to be dependent on the availability of the 20nm process at TSMC.

The specifications stated for the 'Hawaii' GPU is as listed
- 20nm silicon fab process
- 4096 stream processors
- 16 serial processor cores
- 4 geometry engines
- 256 TMUs
- 64 ROPs
- 4GB GDDR5 over 512-bit GDDR5 memory bus
