ASUS has expanded its power supply lineup with the new TUF Gaming Platinum Series, available in 850W, 1000W, and 1200W models. Positioned within the durable TUF ecosystem, these units aim to deliver high efficiency and rugged reliability while undercutting typical Platinum-tier pricing.
This launch follows the recently introduced TUF Gaming 1000W Gold EVO and 1200W Gold EVO models, which similarly target the value-oriented segment. Both the Gold EVO and the new Platinum Series rely solely on 80 PLUS certification, with no Cybenetics certification present, and share the same 8-year warranty. This consistency across both tiers further reinforces ASUS’ strategy of offering cost-optimised alternatives, even as the Platinum models step up in efficiency.
Key Features
• 80 PLUS Platinum efficiency certification
• ATX 3.1 and PCIe 5.1 compatibility
• Next-generation GaN MOSFET for improved efficiency and reduced heat
• Military-grade components including TUF 5K capacitors
• Dual-ball bearing 135mm cooling fan
• Protective PCB coating against moisture and debris
• Premium etched cables with enhanced flexibility and thermal performance
• Full suite of protections including OCP, OVP, OPP, SCP, OTP, and UVP
Built for Durability and Modern Platforms
The TUF Gaming Platinum Series incorporates GaN MOSFET technology, typically seen in higher-end or server-grade applications, enabling improved switching efficiency and reduced energy loss. ASUS pairs this with its TUF-branded components, including capacitors rated for extended lifespan and wider temperature tolerances.
Durability is a major focus, with the units undergoing drop, vibration, extreme temperature, and humidity testing. A conformal PCB coating adds protection against environmental factors such as dust and moisture – a practical inclusion for users in more demanding climates.
Cooling is handled by a 135mm fan with dual-ball bearings, designed to last up to twice as long as sleeve-bearing alternatives, while upgraded PCIe connectors with enhanced copper pins help reduce operating temperatures under load.
