ASUS has launched its Z890 motherboard lineup, which includes models from the ROG Maximus, ROG Strix, TUF Gaming, Prime, and ProArt families, designed for Intel Core Ultra processors (Series 2). Key features include the ASUS AI Advisor, an AI-powered build assistant, and technologies like AEMP III and NitroPath DRAM for optimizing DDR5 memory performance. The motherboards also support NPU Boost for overclocking the integrated NPU, and feature ROG M.2 PowerBoost for more M.2 slots than before. Additional enhancements include Thunderbolt 5, WiFi 7, and various new PC DIY features.

Ready for advanced AI PCs

ASUS Z890 motherboards are designed to enhance AI capabilities, supporting high-performance DDR5 memory and offering ample storage options. They include models like the ROG Maximus Z890 Extreme, ROG Maximus Z890 Apex, and ProArt Z890-Creator WiFi, which feature dual PCIe® 5.0 x16 slots for multi-GPU setups. The series introduces the ASUS AI Advisor, an AI-powered assistant that provides real-time support and answers user questions in natural language. It offers explanations for features like AI Overclocking and AI Cooling II, catering to both beginners and experienced builders. Users can optimize their PC's performance with just one click using the smart controls available on these motherboards.

AI Overclocking:
Powered by exhaustive research and characterization of the performance potential of actual CPUs in ASUS testing labs, this tool boosts CPU clocks with just one click. AI Overclocking’s sophisticated intelligence also monitors the efficiency of a CPU cooler and changes in the operating environment of a system to tune its parameters over time for the best performance with a system’s unique set of components.

AI Cooling II:
AI Cooling II gives users an easy tool for getting effective airflow under load and quiet operation during light tasks, even for builders who opt for higher-RPM case fans. It uses CPU monitoring information and data from a brief stress test to calculate the lowest fan speed required to effectively cool a system — while minimizing noise levels. This fan control system can reduce system fan noise by up to 5.7dB(A) under sustained loads.

AI Networking II:
Through AI Networking II, an AI PC can optimize network settings to ensure smooth online gameplay, uninterrupted creativity and seamless sharing. Integrated into the Armoury Crate app, AI Networking II uses AI-enhanced identification and boost technology to ensure faster and smarter network optimization. The new Traffic Monitor feature tracks current WiFi channel usage and makes it easy to switch to a less-congested channel.

NitroPath DRAM Technology

ASUS NitroPath DRAM Technology is an innovative design implemented in certain ASUS motherboards aimed at enhancing memory performance. Key features include:

Thunderbolt 5

Thunderbolt 5 is making its debut in ASUS's Z890 series motherboards, offering impressive capabilities with up to 80 Gbps bi-directional bandwidth and 120 Gbps with Bandwidth Boost. It can support up to three 8K displays at 60Hz and is compliant with USB4® V2 for broad compatibility. Users can daisy-chain up to five devices per port.

WiFi 7

Every ASUS Z890 motherboard, except the Prime Z890-P, supports Wi-Fi 7, with the ROG and ProArt families offering the highest performance. These motherboards provide link speeds up to 6.5Gbps using MLO, 4K QAM, and 320MHz channels for a premium wireless experience. All Wi-Fi 7-enabled ASUS Z890 motherboards come with the ASUS WiFi Q-Antenna, featuring optimized PCB circuitry and enhanced connectors for superior signal throughput on the 5GHz and 6GHz bands.

ROG M.2 PowerBoost

Through ROG M.2 PowerBoost, ASUS is now able to offer up to seven M.2 slots on a single motherboard. Available with the ROG Maximus Z890 motherboards and the ROG Strix Z890-E Gaming WiFi, this feature intelligently converts the +12V power supply rail to +3V so that users can install more drives, even high-speed PCIe 5.0 options.

Easy PC DIY Made Easier

ASUS is making PC building simpler with its Z890 motherboards, featuring a high-resolution 1920x1080 BIOS interface that allows users to see more settings at once. The BIOS Q-Dashboard offers a visual representation of the motherboard, helping new builders understand their hardware better.

The BIOS also includes ASUS MyHotKey, which lets users customize the F3 and F4 buttons for easy BIOS updates or boot device selection. The new PCIe® Slot Q-Release Slim mechanism simplifies graphics card removal, allowing users to detach cards without latches or buttons.

For M.2 drives, the M.2 Q-Slide mechanism secures drives of various lengths, and the updated tool-free M.2 Q-Latch system further enhances compatibility. Additionally, the M.2 Q-Release heatsink feature allows for quick installation and removal of heatsinks with the press of a button, streamlining the overall building process.

ROG Maximus Z890 Extreme

The Maximum Z890 Extreme sports classic black and charcoal hues with intricate logo embossing and a layered mirrored finish on the wide chipset heatsink; refined silver sheen enhances aesthetics. Built for pushing Intel Core Ultra processors (Series 2) to their limits with an eight-layer PCB and two-ounce copper layers for improved signal integrity.

ROG Maximus Z890 Apex

The Maximus Z890 Apex is designed for professional overclockers seeking record-breaking memory performance. Features only two DDR5 DIMM slots for short trace lengths, enhancing overclocking potential. Its 8+8 ProCool II connectors and a robust VRM architecture with 22+1+2+2 power stages delivers
excellent thermal performance.

ROG Maximus Z890 Hero

The Maximus Z890 Hero is ideal for gamers wanting high performance with a more accessible size. Sports black and charcoal hues with Polymo Lighting II for dynamic RGB effects. Comes with four DIMM slots with NitroPath DRAM Technology and six M.2 slots (three PCIe 5.0). Its 22+1+2+2 power stages with large heatsinks and high-conductivity thermal pads for cooling provide enthusiasts plenty of headroom for overclocking. TUF Gaming Z890-Pro WiFi

Comes in white and metallic accents with a cobble-gray PCB. Offers various PCIe slots and four M.2 slots with smart AI features for optimization. Equipped with Wi-Fi 7 and a 2.5G Ethernet port for fast connections.

TUF Gaming Z890-Plus WiFi

Features classic charcoal with yellow accents, maintaining the TUF series aesthetic. Similar to the Pro model with robust PCIe and M.2 support, plus smart AI tools for performance tuning.

ProArt Z890-Creator WiFi

Designed for professionals leveraging high-speed CUDIMM memory. Sports elegant charcoal hues with gold accents. Has four DDR5 slots and two PCIe 5.0 x16 slots for multi-GPU setups. For connectivity, it packs high-speed Thunderbolt 5 ports, DisplayPort In, Marvell AQtion 10G Ethernet, and Wi-Fi 7 for versatile options.

TUF Gaming Z890 Series

The TUF Gaming Z890-Pro WiFi gives mainstream builders a motherboard that pairs white and metallic accents with a cobble-gray PCB, while the TUF Gaming Z890-Plus WiFi doubles down on the classic charcoal hues and yellow accents that have defined the series since day one.

The feature set of the two motherboards is broadly similar. They offer many PCIe slots, and they are equipped with four M.2 slots with varying capabilities. Smart features like AI Advisor, AI Networking II and AI Cooling II make optimization easy, while Wi-Fi 7 and a 2.5G Ethernet port deliver fast networking.

PRIME Z890 Series

The ASUS Prime motherboard lineup is evolving with new products, including the AP201 Tempered Glass case, efficient power supplies, graphics cards, and AIO liquid CPU coolers. The Prime Z890 series enhances connectivity by featuring at least a 2.5G Ethernet port on all models and supporting Wi-Fi 7 on those with onboard Wi-Fi. Each motherboard includes one PCIe 5.0 M.2 slot along with at least two additional M.2 slots for high-speed storage, and there’s a front-panel header for Thunderbolt 5, with the Prime Z890-P WiFi model offering an onboard Thunderbolt 4 port as well. The series includes the Prime Z890-P WiFi, which is the most feature-rich option with a stylish black-and-white design, the similar Prime Z890-P without Wi-Fi and Thunderbolt 4, and the microATX Prime Z890M-Plus WiFi, providing a compact solution for mid-tower PCs.
