Asustek Set To Increase UK Prices By ~9% This Autumn

ASUS ROG Motherboards are just one of many product segments which will be impacted.

According to a report in the Taipei Times ASUSTeK Computer Inc., the umbrella corp. generally referred to as ASUS and owners of the Republic Of Gamers (PC Gaming) and ASUSTOR (NAS Storage) brands, will be increasing UK PC pricing by 9% from October of this year. The move echoes that of HP and Dell, who both confirmed to retail partners last month that their own product portfolio will be 9-10% more expensive due to the fallout of the EU Referendum on June 23rd.

ASUS firmly blamed the price increases on the slump in Sterling's value since the Brexit vote. The sudden drop in June - from 1.47 $:£ to 1.31 - has been almost unprecedented, and manufacturers worldwide can no longer afford to swallow unsustainable losses of this magnitude. Changes will be reflected in prices British consumers pay at their retailer of choice. As a major player in the UK PC industry, and the 3rd largest vendor in the EMEA region, the knock-on impact will be far-reaching.

Although only ASUS has been identified it's likely that all PC vendors will need follow suit. More broadly, the cost of all imports into the UK are expected to increase in line with Sterling's fall, although some industries will see an impact sooner than others.
