Press Release

CHERRY XTRFY has announced its first magnetic switch keyboards, introducing tunnel magnetoresistance (TMR) technology to its gaming peripheral lineup ahead of CES 2026. CHERRY positions TMR as an alternative to conventional Hall effect sensing, promising higher input precision and significantly lower power consumption, enabling high-performance wireless operation without compromise.

The new lineup debuts with the CHERRY MX 8.2 Pro TMR Wireless this month, followed by the more compact CHERRY XTRFY K5 Pro TMR later this spring. Both models are designed to deliver advanced customisation, ultra-fast polling rates, and the flexibility expected from modern magnetic switch keyboards.

CHERRY XTRFY MX 8.2 Pro TMR Wireless
The CHERRY XTRFY MX 8.2 Pro TMR Wireless is a tenkeyless keyboard built with an aluminium top frame and PBT keycaps. It uses CHERRY MK Crystal Magnetic switches paired with TMR sensing, registering input with up to 0.01 mm precision while maintaining a smooth linear keystroke feel. Improved power efficiency allows the keyboard to operate wirelessly at an 8000 Hz polling rate, reporting input up to eight times per millisecond.

Key features include:
• CHERRY MK Crystal Magnetic switches with TMR sensing
• 0.01 mm actuation precision
• Wireless operation with 8000 Hz polling rate
• Dual hot-swap support for magnetic and mechanical switches
• Aluminium top plate and PBT keycaps
• Tenkeyless (TKL) layout

Through CHERRY MagCrate software, users can fine-tune actuation points and assign multiple functions to a single key based on press depth or duration, offering extensive control for competitive gaming and productivity use.

CHERRY XTRFY K5 Pro TMR
The CHERRY XTRFY K5 Pro TMR expands the TMR lineup with a wired, compact 65% keyboard aimed at users who prefer a smaller footprint. Based on the existing K5 platform, it adopts the same CHERRY MK Crystal Magnetic switches with TMR sensing, enabling greater precision and enhanced customisation via MagCrate software.

Notable highlights include:
• Compact 65% layout
• CHERRY MK Crystal Magnetic switches with TMR technology
• Wired connection with upgraded 8000 Hz polling rate
• Expanded customisation via CHERRY MagCrate software

Compared to the standard K5, the CHERRY XTRFY K5 Pro TMR increases the polling rate from 1000 Hz to 8000 Hz, positioning it as a performance-focused alternative within the range.

Availability
The CHERRY XTRFY MX 8.2 Pro TMR Wireless will launch on January 29th with an RRP of EUR 229.99 or GBP 199.99. The CHERRY XTRFY K5 Pro TMR is scheduled for release this spring, with pricing to be confirmed closer to launch.
