CoolerMaster Add Three CPU Cooler Revisions To The Range

Coolermaster has been in the Heatsink/Fan (HSF) game for a while now, and rarely fails to bring a product to market that doesn't make you sit up and take notice. The most obvious examples are the Hyper 212 and 212 plus, both of which provided outstanding bang for your buck for overclockers on a budget. With three new additions to their range of CPU coolers - the 212 EVO, TX3 EVO and GeminII M4 - CM aim to continue their dominance in the entry-level enthusiast bracket whist giving consumers a new option in the HTPC/mini-ITX cooler market. As you would expect, the HSF's all support the common range of CPU socket types from Intel and AMD.

GeminII M4

The GeminII M4 may remind you of the S524 officially released in July, but it's the differences which should interest you. The GeminII M4 stands at only 59mm tall from base to the top of its super-slim fan, making it ideal for HTPC and mITX requirements, but still features the direct touch heatpipe technology seen on high performance Coolermaster HSF's. With four 6mm heatpipes this cooler packs a punch, but with only one 120mm PWM fan it shouldn't sound like your PC is going to take off any second. The downward facing fan will also provide airflow to motherboard components often somewhat starved of cooling in the confines of a near-quiet HTPC solution.

Hyper 212 EVO

The Hyper 212 EVO is the latest in Coolermasters' highly successful 212 range of low-cost enthusiast coolers. Slightly lighter than it's predecessor at only 580g, the heatpipes are much more tightly packed resulting in what CM calls a 'virtual vapor chamber', improving heat transfer and likely having the side effect of making applying thermal compound slightly easier than on the 212+. Fan characteristics are considerably less aggressive, reving only to 1600rpm and hence rated at a lower noise than the previous (already very good) fan of the 212+.

HSF Specifications:

CPU Socket:- Intel® Socket LGA1366/1156/1155/775 - AMD Socket FM1/AM3+/AM3/AM2+/AM2

Fan Air Pressure:- 0.3 - 1.7mm H2O ± 10%
Fan Life Expectancy:- 40,000 hours
Fan Noise Level (dB-A):- 9 - 31dBA
Bearing Type:- Long Life Sleeve Bearing
Connector:- 4-Pin
Fan Weight:- 104g (0.23 lb)
Weight:- 580g (1.28 lb)

Hyper TX3 EVO

The Hyper TX3 EVO is pitched more towards the budget end of the market. Featuring the push-pin mounting evocative of the stock intel coolers rather than the more robust systems of the 212, the TX3 nonetheless represents a signifiacnt upgrade over stock solutions. At 136mm it's still pretty tall, but the small footprint should see few compatibility issues with RAM and motherboard chipset cooling. Direct touch heatpipe tech. will speed the heat away from your CPU, but the relatively low fin area make the TX3 more suitable for CPU's running at stock or mild rather than the higher speeds the 212 EVO is capable of.
