Corsair's strategy of targeting conventions where huge numbers of gamers are sure to be attending, reaching out to them directly, continues apace at PAX Prime this week. The Penny Arcade eXpo returns to Seattle, Washington and Corsair have seen it as a prime opportunity to demonstrate the recently updated peripheral line as well as announce a raft of new products intended for gamers of all stripes.

Taking centre stage are updated headset designs for their high-end Vengeance range, complementing the broadening of choice now offered by Vengeance K70's additional mechanical switch options. However it doesn't end there. The recently refreshed Raptor range for more cost-conscious consumers also adds two headsets and a keyboard featuring the aesthetic design Corsair made popular with the K-series keyboards last year.

Vengeance Gaming Update

Three new headsets now augment the already strong Vengeance headset line: the Vengeance 2100 Dolby 7.1 Wireless, Vengeance 1500 v2 Dolby 7.1 and Vengeance 1400 Stereo. The headline change is to the drivers, intended to improve audio quality, but we wouldn't be surprised to see a few build quality improvements being made along the way. It appears that they will largely replace the Vengeance 1300, 1500v1 and 2000 currently on the market as website pricing indicates that they may be seeking to clear stock.

New Raptor Peripherals

Whilst the Vengeance line is only gaining three new headsets, the Raptor range of more affordable peripherals has been bolstered in two areas. As well as two new headsets incorporating 40mm Neodymium drivers and a heavily revised band design, the Raptor K30 keyboard takes some of the aesthetic cues from the Vengeance K-series keyboards and brings them to a $60 price point.

New Mousemat Sizes

Rounding out the update are two new mouse mats, the MM200 Extended and MM400 Compact. Unsurprisingly the MM200 Extended is a much wider mousemat than the norm, bringing the width to 930mm from the standard 360mm and catering to those who need a mat to sit under both keyboard and mouse. The M400 Compact by contrast is a low friction polymer mat shrunk down to 310 mm x 235mm from 352mm x 272mm, intended for those with more restrictive desk spaces.

The new products should be available next month. Although some are natural replacements for previous versions of the same product, others will be sold alongside current Corsair peripherals. For more information on Corsair at PAX Prime visit their landing page.
