Epic Games Announces New Games, New Unreal Engine Technology and More

Epic Games, at GCD 2019, announces a line-up of new games including highly anticipated titles from Ubisoft, Deep Silver, and Take-Two Interactive’s Private Division, all coming to the Epic Games store. Epic Games founder and CEO Tim Sweeney also announces the new Unreal Engine technology, watch the live demonstration on the video below. The CEO also announces Epic MegaGrants and Epic Online Services to the new Unreal Engine features.

Unreal Engine 4.22

The new Unreal Engine 4.22 is the fastest version of ever with many optimizations and performance upgrades. Unreal Engine 4.22 comes with new and highly anticipated features including ray tracing, new Live++ hot reload for live coding, multi-user collaboration in Unreal Editor, Niagara VFX enhancements, Microsoft HoloLens streaming support, and support for Google’s new Stadia game streaming platform which was revealed recently.

Epic MegaGrants

Epic Games has launched Epic MegaGrants, committing $100,000,000 to assist game developers, media and entertainment creators, enterprise professionals, students, educators, and tools developers doing outstanding work with Unreal Engine or enhancing open-source capabilities for the 3D graphics community. Epic MegaGrants marks an evolution from Epic’s Unreal Dev Grants program which was launched back in 2015 and is recently concluded.

Epic Online Services

Epic Online Services are free offerings that will make it easier and faster for developers to successfully launch, operate and scale high-quality games. Epic Online Services is built from Epic’s experience with Fortnite with its massive community of players. Epic Online Services provides a single SDK that works across any platform, game engine, and store to help developers give their players a unified, cross-platform social experience. In addition to game analytics and the ticketing system, the growing library of tools includes sentiment analysis, cloud storage, voice communications, and matchmaking.
