Today is Day 4 of the the Epic Game Store "15 Days of Free Games" promotion, and following up smoothly on Shenmue III, Neon Abyss and Remnant: From The Ashes is an indie favourite from 2014. The Astronauts' The Vanishing of Ethan Carter is available until 4pm GMT tomorrow.
The Vanishing of Ethan Carter is a narrative-driven game that once would have been unfairly dubbed a 'walking simulator'. Mystery is at the very heart of the experience as you explore its atmospheric environments, and the game plays out like a pseudo-detective story as you discover more about the titular character. It has a relatively slow pace but is still a pretty tight 6-8 hours of gameplay if you take your time.
Elsewhere on the Epic Game Store, the Holiday 2021 Sale continues with savings of up to 75% across a wide range of games. Titles priced at $14.99/£13.99 or more (after sale reductions) are also eligible for the $10/£10 Epic Coupon, further reducing its price. Purchases made with the Coupon will grant a new Coupon, allowing you to rack up savings on sequentially bought titles.
Major releases with significant reductions on their MSRP include Cyberpunk 2077 (£24.99), Ghostrunner (£14.99), Horizon Zero Dawn Complete Edition (£19.99), Hitman 3 (£19.99) and Assassin's Creed Valhalla (£24.99). Far Cry 6 (£34.49), Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy, Battlefield 2042 (£32.99) and Darkest Dungeon II (£21.59, Early Access) all have more modest reductions but are still well worth contemplating, especially with the £10 Coupon in hand.
The Epic Holiday Sale continues until January 6th. The free game offer is updated every day at 4pm GMT (5pm CET, 8am Pacific) until Thursday December 30th; but remember: once it's gone, its gone.
