In the first new product announcement we've heard from silent enclosure manufacturer Fractal Design in some time, the makers of the excellent Define R2 and R3 chassis are updating their Silent Series fans to R2. The new fans have improved hydraulic bearings for longer life and quieter operation, whilst the change to blade design also improves air flow at lower RPM. R2 fans also see greater attention to package detail than the originals: the cabling is still sleeved but in addition rubber screws have been added to dampen vibration and prevent it being transmitted to the chassis as a whole.
