NVIDIA has expanded GeForce NOW support with the release of a native Linux desktop app, now available in beta. The new client enables Linux PCs to stream GeForce RTX-powered gaming directly from the cloud, bringing feature parity closer to the Windows and macOS versions of the service.
Alongside the Linux beta launch, NVIDIA has added ten new games to the GeForce NOW library this week, including classic and modern titles such as The Bard’s Tale IV: Director’s Cut and The Bard’s Tale Trilogy, further broadening the service’s appeal for both new and returning players.
Native GeForce NOW App Arrives on Linux
The GeForce NOW beta app for Linux currently supports Ubuntu 24.04 and later, offering a desktop-focused experience designed for PCs and notebooks rather than handheld devices. NVIDIA states that compatible systems can stream supported titles at up to 5K resolution at 120 FPS, or 1080p at up to 360 FPS, depending on membership tier and connection quality.
Unlike the earlier Linux experience optimised for the Steam Deck, the new app aligns closely with the Windows and macOS versions, delivering a full desktop interface and access to RTX features such as ray tracing and NVIDIA DLSS 4. With rendering handled in the cloud, Linux users can access RTX 5080-class performance without requiring high-end local hardware.
Expanded Device Ecosystem
With the Linux beta, GeForce NOW now offers native apps across a wide range of platforms, including Windows, macOS, Chromebooks, mobile devices and smart TVs. NVIDIA positions this as part of its broader goal to provide flexible, on-demand access to PC gaming across almost any device.
