GIGABYTE have announced that they will be providing motherboards that are bundled with Lucid Virtu to give customers use of the IGP and media processing on their Sandy Bridge cpu. This announcement comes as many reports were saying that GIGABYTE were not supplying Virtu or even a display out on some motherboards. While the latter may be true still this means that GIGABYTE now has a presence amongst other manufacturers offering such features.

The boards to come from GIGABYTE featuring Virtu are Z68X-UD3H-B3, Z68A-D3H-B3, Z68MX-UD2H-B3 and Z68MA-D2H-B3. Surprisingly It seems that the UD4, UD5 and UD7, the higher-end boards in GIGABYTE's line up are the boards that omit Virtu and a display out.

"We are excited about our new partnership with Lucid because of the huge potential for switchable graphics in the PC DIY market where Gigabyte motherboards enjoy considerable market share," said Henry Kao, VP of R&D, at Gigabyte. "We believe that Virtu will add considerable value to Gigabyte motherboards using Intel's Sandy Bridge graphics and will provide our customers with the flexibility and choice they want from their system."
