With the second-generation AMD Ryzen Threadripper processors coming out very soon, GIGABYTE finally and officially introduces its new flagship AMD X399 motherboard – the X399 AORUS XTREME. First seen at COMPUTEX 2018, the GIGABYTE X399 AORUS XTREME is specially designed for the beefed-up AMD second-generation Ryzen Threadripper processors with up to 32 cores and 64 threads along with a higher thermal design power of 250W compared to the predecessor’s 180W TDP. The X399 AORUS XTREME takes inspiration from the AORUS Falcon for its aesthetics and armour. It features a more robust power design with 10+3 digital power phases along with enhanced thermal solutions and superior hardware support that includes 4-way CrossFire and SLI configurations.

Second-Generation Ryzen Threadripper

The upcoming AMD 2nd Gen Ryzen Threadripper processors are built on 12-nanometre processing technology. The AMD Ryzen Threadripper 2990WX Processor, the world’s first ever 32-core consumer-class desktop processor, packs a base frequency of 3.0GHz and boost clock frequency at 4.2GHz on its 32 cores. The Ryzen Threadripper 2990WX and 2970WX has a default thermal design power of 250W thus requiring a durable motherboard that can harness such power.

Power Design
The X399 AORUS XTREME is GIGABYTE’s new top-of-the-line AMD X399 motherboard that’s equipped with a 10+3 power design using all digital PWM from IR accompanied by power connectors with solid pins to deliver precise and reliable power delivery. GIGABYTE has also improved the thermal design across the motherboard.

Thermal Enhancements
While ASUS offers thermal enhancement kits on its existing X399 motherboards, GIGABYTE has totally redesigned and improved thermal cooling on the X399 AORUS XTREME to enable the motherboard to unleash the full potential of the second-generation Ryzen Threadripper processors. The critical VRM area is cooling by a Direct Touch Heatpipe that rapidly transfers heat from the components to the Fins-Array Heatsink, a design that increases the heat dissipation area by 300% when compared to traditional solutions. The X399 AORUS XTREME motherboard also packs two 30mm fans hidden under the I/O Armour which can be customized for automatic activation. The motherboard is prepared to operate under intensive load featuring a NanoCarbon base plate which helps dissipate heat on the components mounted at the PCB backside of the motherboard.

Superior Hardware Support
The X399 AORUS XTREME makes the most out of the 48 of the 64 PCIe lanes directly provided by the processor supporting up to 4-Way CrossFire or SLI configurations. The motherboard has one additional 6-pin power connector that assists in supplying power to the graphics cards. The X399 AORUS XTREME also features the exclusive AORUS PCIe Armour and Double Locking Brackets that protects the PCIe slots from heavy graphics cards. The X399 AORUS XTREME also packs a triple PCIe Gen3 x4 M.2 design with Thermal Guards that supports ultra-fast NVMe RAID. The internal front panel USB 3.1 Gen2 Type-C connector offers high-speed connectivity to the motherboard.

Next-Generation Connectivity
The X399 AORUS XTREME also features the next-generation networking capabilities sporting a Dual Intel i210AT GbE LAN and a 10 GbE LAN port controlled by an AQUANTIA chip for 10X faster transfer speeds. It also comes with an Intel Dual Band 802.11ac Wireless with BT 4.2 for high-speed wireless connectivity.

Immersive High-Quality Audio
The X399 AORUS XTREME packs the Realtek ALC1220-VB audio codec, filtered by high-end audio capacitors and fine-tuned to audiophile levels by the ESS SABRE DAC to deliver immersive high-quality audio for gaming, entertainment and more.

The aesthetics of the X399 AORUS XTREME extends to its back panel such as the integrated I/O shield, the gold-plated audio jacks complete a definitive Hi-Fi sound solution, a wide range of the best connectivity options as well as power and reset buttons grant a superior level of functionality and control. Cooling Technology
The X399 AORUS XTREME’s cooling technology features the Smart Fan 5 with FAN STOP, a reliable cooling design for the AMD X399 chipset and 2nd Gen AMD Ryzen Threadripper processors. It leverages a number of hybrid fan headers and temperature sensors with the remarkable software suite to maintain system temperatures and noise under total control.
