Google Introduces First Gaming Chromebooks from Acer, Lenovo, and ASUS

Google introduces the world’s first laptops built for cloud gaming. The new gaming Chromebooks from Acer, ASUS, and Lenovo feature gaming-grade specifications that meet the requirements for cloud gaming. Today, Google announces three new Chromebooks: Acer Chromebook 516 GE, ASUS Chromebook Vibe CX55 Flip, and Ideapad Gaming Chromebook from Lenovo. Among the three, the ASUS Chromebook Vibe CX55 Flip packs superior hardware being equipped with an Intel Core i5-1135G7 processor and a 15.6-inch 144Hz touchscreen display in a 2-in-1 notebook format.

Optimized for cloud gaming and productivity, the gaming Chromebooks highlight support for NVIDIA GeForce NOW, Xbox Cloud Gaming (beta), and Amazon Luna. The gaming Chromebooks are likely in the works even before the decision to discontinue Google Stadia. Today, the new gaming Chromebooks are now available in the United States.

We are announcing three new Chromebooks today: Acer Chromebook 516 GE, ASUS Chromebook Vibe CX55 Flip, and Ideapad Gaming Chromebook from Lenovo. These laptops come loaded with features that are great for gaming, including 120Hz+ high-resolution screens for crystal clear visuals, RGB gaming keyboards (on select models) with anti-ghosting capabilities for added speed and excitement, WiFi 6 or 6E for seamless connectivity and immersive audio to draw you into your game.

All cloud gaming Chromebooks have been independently tested and verified by leading game performance measurement platform, GameBench, to consistently deliver a smooth, responsive gaming experience with 120 frames per second and console-class input latency of under 85ms.

Availability and Pricing
The new gaming Chromebooks from Lenovo, Acer, and ASUS are now available in the United States on BestBuy and Walmart at the following prices.

Lenovo Ideapad 5i Gaming Chromebook (Intel Core i3-1215U): $399.00 (Walmart)
ASUS Chromebook Flip CX5 (Intel Core i5-1135G7): $699.00 (BestBuy)
Acer Chromebook 516 GE (Intel Core i5-1240P): $649.00 (BestBuy)

Google did not specify if the Gaming Chromebooks will be released to other regions as of this writing. If ever Google does, it will likely be limited to countries that are supported by GeForce NOW, Amazon Luna, and Xbox Cloud Gaming.
