Google has officially teased the upcoming Googlebook platform, introducing a new class of premium laptops focused on Gemini AI integration, lightweight designs, and tighter Android connectivity. Based on the official landing page, Googlebook devices will feature tools such as “Magic Pointer” for contextual Gemini interactions, AI-generated widgets, and seamless Android phone integration through features like app streaming and direct file access.

Unlike the Google Chromebooks, which have largely focused on affordable and education-oriented systems, Googlebook appears positioned for the premium ultraportable segment. Early messaging and design language suggest Google is targeting the same category occupied by devices such as the Apple MacBook Air and Microsoft Surface Laptop, with an emphasis on thin-and-light form factors, modern aesthetics, and AI-powered productivity features.

Partner Brands for Googlebook Devices
Similar to the Chromebook ecosystem, Googlebook laptops are expected to be produced by multiple OEM partners. ASUS has already teased its involvement, while Acer, Dell, HP, and Lenovo are also expected to introduce their own Googlebook models. Google appears to be maintaining its multi-brand hardware strategy while shifting towards a more premium market position for the Googlebook platform.

Update: MediaTek Confirms Googlebook Partnership

MediaTek has officially confirmed that its processors will power some of the first wave of Googlebook devices. In a recent announcement, the company revealed it is partnering with Google to support Gemini-powered AI experiences on the upcoming Googlebook platform, particularly focusing on low-latency on-device AI computing and power efficiency.

MediaTek also highlighted Googlebook’s Android-based technology stack, stating that its processors are inherently optimised for the Google ecosystem. While exact chip models were not disclosed, the company confirmed its ARM-based platforms will deliver AI acceleration, advanced connectivity, multimedia features, and seamless integration between Android smartphones and Googlebook laptops.

Googlebook laptops are expected to launch in Fall 2026. For more information, visit the official page here: Googlebook.
