Intel are confident that GTA V won't be a console exclusive for very long

GTA V is without a doubt the most successful game in terms of revenue ever! It is the fastest game to net $1 billion, the game with the most pre-orders ever, the highest revenue raising in 24 hours and the list goes on. However, one question on the minds of PC gamers is "Why is it not available for PC?" Understandably the console market is incredibly profitable for developers and publishers but with the huge open world available surely the current generation of consoles can't do it justice in terms of graphical fidelity. Let's not forget that the franchise's humble beginnings were on PC. Why the shift?

PC Gamer have interviewed Chris R. Silva, the Director of Marketing for Intel who had a lot of very interesting things to say.

"I think it (console exclusivity) hurt Halo overall. At least with Grand Theft Auto I don’t think it’ll be console exclusive very long. But that’s what happens when you have a brand new launch with two companies that have lots of money trying to make sure they have content."

Essentially Silva is saying that someone has paid a lot of money to make sure that the title was a console exclusive. However, the PC gaming market is pretty big too as Silva went on to say.

"The PC gaming ecosystem just continues to grow,” said Silva. “If you look at the amount of revenue that is generated by PC gaming it’s in the tens of billions of dollars each year. It’s incredibly diverse and rich and that’s it’s greatest strength."

Intel are not alone in this and PC Gamer have put together a list of hints of a PC release. Whether this is fact or fiction remains to be seen.

What do you think are some reason's that GTA V is a console exclusive? Could the PC version have been delayed in an attempt to make fans of the franchise buy it twice? We'd love to hear your thoughts.
