Intel has officially unveiled its new Xeon 600 processors for Client Workstation, delivering a major platform refresh aimed squarely at high end professional workloads. Built for the Intel W890 chipset, the latest Xeon workstation lineup introduces substantial gains in core count, memory bandwidth, I O connectivity and power efficiency, targeting demanding use cases such as AI development, engineering simulation and media production.

Based on Intel 3 process technology and the new Redwood Cove Plus core architecture, Xeon 600 processors scale up to an impressive 86 performance cores while significantly improving both single thread and multi thread performance over the previous generation. Intel says the platform is designed to meet the growing compute demands across professional industries, combining performance efficiency, expanded AI features and enterprise grade platform capabilities.

Key platform highlights include:

• Up to 86 cores with turbo frequencies reaching 4.8 GHz, delivering up to 9 percent better single thread and up to 61 percent higher multi thread performance versus the prior generation
• Enhanced AI acceleration with FP16 datatype support in Intel AMX, enabling up to 17 percent faster AI and machine learning workloads
• Up to 128 PCIe 5.0 lanes from the CPU, supporting multi GPU configurations, high speed storage and advanced networking
• Support for up to eight channels of DDR5 RDIMM memory at speeds up to 6400 MT per second, up from 4800 MT per second previously
• New support for DDR5 MRDIMM memory with speeds up to 8000 MT per second for improved memory bound performance
• Continued ECC memory and RAS support to improve system stability and data integrity
• Advanced workstation class overclocking features, including new voltage protection, per core and per CDIE reporting, and fine grained frequency tuning
• Integrated Intel Wi Fi 6E with optional discrete Intel Wi Fi 7 support
• Full Intel vPro feature set, including hardware enhanced security, firmware controls and Intel One Click Recovery

Intel is also highlighting the overclocking potential of the Intel Xeon 600 workstation platform. Working alongside ASUS and its overclocking team, Intel claims multiple new world records at launch using the flagship Xeon 698X paired with an ASUS Pro WS W890E SAGE SE motherboard, setting top scores across several Geekbench, Cinebench and Y Cruncher benchmarks.

Retail availability will begin in late March 2026 through OEM and system integrator partners, as well as individually boxed processors. The boxed SKU lineup includes:

• Intel Xeon 696X Processor with 64 cores
• Intel Xeon 678X Processor with 48 cores
• Intel Xeon 676X Processor with 32 cores
• Intel Xeon 658X Processor with 24 cores
• Intel Xeon 654 Processor with 18 cores
