HydroShift II LCD-S – Follow-Up Investigation and Design Update
LIAN LI has provided a follow-up update after completing further investigation into the HydroShift II LCD-S issue, citing community feedback as instrumental in identifying the underlying cause.
The company determined that, in some systems, motherboard backplate bending can cause the CPU to sit lower than intended. This can lead to the pump cap and integrated LCD sitting lower while the mounting bracket remains level, resulting in internal interference within the LCD cap housing. In such cases, the pogo pins may fail to maintain proper contact, causing the LCD not to power on and the USB connection to be incorrectly detected.
LIAN LI notes that the issue is not universal and depends on individual motherboard conditions, particularly the presence of backplate bending. To resolve this, the company has implemented a design update that adds a small cutout to the inner housing of the LCD cap, eliminating potential interference and ensuring consistent pogo-pin contact.
Who Is Affected
You may be affected if:
• The LCD fails to power on and remains black
• Device manager does not pick up the LCD as a USB device
