A Reddit user, Curious-Speech-4935, shared their frustration after purchasing a LIAN LI Edge 1000W PSU for their newly acquired NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 Founders Edition, only to discover that the 12V-2x6 connector is not compatible with the graphics card.
The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 FE’s angled and deep connector socket creates an incompatibility with the LIAN LI Edge series’ 12V-2x6 connector, preventing it from fully latching into the socket. Reddit users have noted that the Edge PSU’s 12V-2x6 connector appears larger than those from other brands.

The enlarged connector comes into contact with the RTX 5090 FE’s cooler housing, preventing it from fully locking into the socket, as demonstrated by the Reddit user in the photos below.
The user is forced to use the 12V-2x6 adapter cable included with the RTX 5090 FE graphics card but is expecting compensation for the unfortunate and unexpected incompatibility. LIAN LI is yet to respond to the user on their Reddit post.

LIAN LI responded on the Reddit post with the statement below:
Following the release of NVIDIA's GeForce RTX 50 Series Graphics Cards, we're seeing discussion surrounding the compatibility of our EDGE PSUs' 12V-2x6 cables. We noticed that the EDGE PSU's 12V-2x6 cables cannot plug all the way into RTX 50 Series Founder's Edition cards, thus we will be introducing design changes.
The new cables will be ready on 2/14. If you have already purchased the EDGE PSU and are having compatibility issues with the RTX 50 Series Founder's Edition cards, please reach out to us by filling out the Warranty Claim form at https://lian-li.com/contact-us/. In the form, please title the issue with "EDGE PSU compatibility issue with 50 Series FE cards".
Thank you.

The Reddit user was instructed to contact the LIAN LI support channel to get assistance. On the other hand, other Reddit users have been commenting on the thread regarding other LIAN LI products. One Reddit user warned that his LIAN LI Strimer Plus V2 12VHPWR cable also had similar issues with the NVIDIA RTX 5090 Founders Edition and would not fit. Others also commented saying they had to "use quite a bit of force" to jam the 12V-2x6 connector to the RTX 5090 FE card - the user also using an EDGE PSU. Nevertheless, LIAN LI has acknowledged the issue and is now working on a fix.
