The Mass Effect trilogy has been one of the most critically acclaimed of all time, primarily down to its involving story which changed depending on your actions in the game world. Unfortunately many found the finale of Mass Effect 3, the last installment of the trilogy, to be particularly unsatisfying. In their view the differences in the ending conditions (Good, Bad or Neutral) weren't sufficiently distinct, at least not in the ending cinematic which only had very subtle changes depending on the final choice taken.
A little time after the release of ME3, developers Bioware addressed this criticism head-on, announcing their intention to expand on the ending rather write the final sequences of the game. The story of your crew, Earth and ultimately the fate of organic beings in the Galaxy will be told in greater detail; hopefully in a more comprehensive manner than previously.
Today Bioware have revealed that the Extended Cut DLC will be released on the 26th of June for PC, XBOX 360 and Playstation 3, with European users of the Playstation 3 getting the DLC a little later - the 4th of July. The DLC will be available through Xbox LIVE, Origin, and PlayStation Network, and be roughly 1.9GB in size.
In order to access the new content, players will need to play through from a mid-game save, rather than re-use a character save which has already beaten the game.
